Our school colors are red and blue. In 1986, the student body decided to change the colors.
They took a vote to see which two colors were the most popular. Red and blue were the winners because it represented the blue skies above us and the red soil below. Before that, our school colors were blue and white. Blue was the color or the nearby Waianae Mountain Range and white the color of the frequent passing clouds.
We are called the Junior Mules because our local high school's (Leilehua H.S.) mascot is the mule. Their mascot came from many years ago. If you don't know, Wahiawa is located near Schofield Army Base. The unofficial mascot of West Point where army officers trained is the mule. Hence, we are called the Junior Mules.
The parents, students, teachers, and staff at Ka'ala Elementary School voted in February 1998 for an official school logo. Pictured below is the winner.
